Rocky Mount BBQ: Newport News' Top Spot for Tender Ribs & Flavorful Southern BBQ

Wow! I had always just eaten barbecue here. Well I decided to try some other things, and they've all been fantastic! Tonight I had a fried chicken sandwich. It was HUGE! The combo with a side and drink was just over $15.00 The servers are all so sweet and attentive! Cheyanne, Destiny, Renée, and Katelyn are wonderful!

These ribs are different from all others I’ve eaten & reviewed (in every way but not in a bad way!).These are spare ribs and are cooked differently from the others I’ve reviewed . The server explained that these are first boiled in their spices and seasonings. Then they are put in the oven with the sauce. I requested sauce on the side. These are much larger than the baby backs. These were well seasoned and VERY tender. Due to their size, they were also very filling. The collard greens were the ABSOLUTE BEST. I had some the other day in a different restaurant that I THOUGHT were the best but these collards are even better than those!!!! In fact, they’re better than ANY I’ve had in this area inclusive of all of the soul food restaurants I’ve tried! The hush puppies were hot and fresh. The bottle of SEASONED vinegar they put on my table was exceptionally good. The sweet potato casserole was good too. The banana pudding was fair but neatly made. The restaurant and bathroom were SUPER clean and very well maintained. The staff is extremely polite, nice, helpful and clean! All servers PROPERLY wore their masks. The food was great, servers were very sweet and attentive. The atmosphere was seriously lacking. But if you’ve been there that long and have repeat customers, then it was just bothering me. I’d eat there again!!

I haven’t been in the actual facility yet, but I am excited to dine in one day. Their food is amazing! We got our food delivered through DoorDash. I had the fried chicken sandwich, yams, and Mac & cheese. The sandwich is so big that I had to finish the rest for dinner! It was nice, crispy, and flavorful. The yams are delicious!! The mac & cheese would’ve tasted better if it had been hot, but we live a good distance from here. Regardless, the mac & cheese was also good. The sweet potato fries were sweet…which is a good thing. I added the powdered sugar on them since (I believe) the powdered sugar probably melted since it was hot in the container. The way they make their hushpuppies is how i like them (no corn on the inside). They were crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. I will definitely order from here again! There are so many things to choose from, so I’ll be ordering something different next time.

Their food NEVER disappoints!!! Their ribs are amazing. Their BBQ sauce is the only sauce around that my husband isn't allergic to. Their sides are always well cooked and flavorful. HIGHLY recommend!!!
